L4D..
« on: October 05, 2008, 12:41:05 PM »
So.
We all should know about L4D by now.
Release dat 18th-20th november depending on your geographical location.
Now.
For you cheap asses, this game is made by valve. And it runs through steam. Through steams anti-everything system.
So don't expect not to have to pay for it for the first few weeks.

Everyone who wants to play L4D at the LAN, will be REQUIRED to have a legit copy. Otherwise you will not be able to play.
So get off your stingey asses and start looking under the couch for coins, cos this game is gonna make you pay.
No pay, no play.
Its that simple. L4D will be worth it, I promise you this.
I don't stop.
I won't stop.
I will never stop until I hear the crack.

All will be based on price

if they want $80 well I won't be getting it

if it is around 20-40 well then I will probably get it through steam (steam better not pull more of the shit that multi games won't even start in offline mode)

well it may be linked to steam
if it is not it will be easy to LAN with
one problem I noticed with steam lately is that multiplayer games will not start in offline mode meaning that we may not be able to play it at lan (that is my concern)

I will attempt to get it legit but if they want to much well it is not going to happen (I will never pay over $40 for a game no matter how good it is)

well if a game is that much it is way to much for a piece of software and I have better things to spend my money on like maybe a second video card

and my concern is that we will not be able to play legit at LAN because steam likes to stop multi games running in offline mode HL2 Death match is one such game

this is why we need a non steam version that is made to work on lan

Ive read that it may and most likely will cost up to $100 in AUS retail, $80-90ish via Steam.. If its anything like Orange Box retail then it'll run through Steam which is going to srsly make me kill someone.
All in all it doesn't look like L4D is going to be easily LANable, unless Valve do something non-Capitalist for a nice change and make it a simple 'insert disk, install to HD' with no fkin around with external software, but then again that's like asking EA to put widescreen into BF2  ;)
