may be a stupid question but ... HOW CAN I GET STEAM TO SHOW $AUS PRICING

You can't.
In Vista/7, there's a Currency gadget, use that and add the AUS and US Dollars. Change the US Dollar to whatever the price of the game is, then it will show the AUS Dollar price.
